- Provide feedback on timeline worksheet (Attachment E) completed in Session 4.
- Display notes from “Islamic Contributions and Achievements” (Attachment G) on the board or overhead. Discuss each concept, checking regularly for student understanding.
- Lead a discussion, using the information from the timeline as well as the discussion notes.
- Check for understanding after the discussion by asking questions such as, “Who are people of the book, and what happened to conquered polytheists?”
- Distribute the “Map Exercise 2—Islamic Empire” (Attachment F) for completion.
