- Teacher-prepared illustrations/slides/electronic presentation of medieval art and architecture
NOTE: The following Web resource may be helpful in teaching this session:
- Give a “guided lecture” (using illustrations, slides, or an electronic presentation) of medieval art and architecture. Focus on the Gothic cathedrals and use of religion in art.
- Brainstorm with students about the growing power of the Church. Include both positive and negative aspects of this power.
- Instruct students to design their own Gothic cathedral. If possible, use the correct architectural terms (e.g., nave, apse, flying buttress, vestibule).
