- Almanacs and/or Internet access
- A copy of the blank Economic Indicators Data chart for each student (Attachment D)
- Instruct students to list the characteristics of a developed country and those of a developing country. Have the students share their answers, reviewing with the students the characteristics of developed and developing countries.
- Instruct students to go to the <https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html>. Web site or use almanacs to gather data and complete the Economic Indicators Data chart (Attachment D). Have students compare the data to their understanding of developed and developing countries and determine whether each country is developed or developing.
- After students have completed their chart, have them write a paragraph that summarizes the economic status of the countries in the region, supporting their summary by the data in their chart.
