- Read and discuss the teacher-selected nonfiction books on ancient Rome.
- Role-play activities for each kind of the following forms of government: Kings, direct democracy, and representative democracy.
- Make models of the Colosseum and/or aqueducts from clay, paper maché, or cardboard.
- On a chart, compare and contrast physical and human characteristics of ancient Greece and Rome.
- Discuss the importance of the locations of these ancient places along the Mediterranean Sea.
- Write postcards or travel brochures about what it was like growing up in ancient Rome.
- Provide students with a Venn Diagram using three interlocking circles to show similarities in professions between ancient Greece and Rome. Have students use pictures to represent each occupation.
